薛萍——低调做人,作谦虚的学习者;高调做事,保持严谨治学态度

自我推介:
  For the past one and a half teaching years, I have been endeavoring to improve my teaching level and diversify teaching methods. The particularity of the source of our students causes the difference in class management from that of undergraduates and also call upon me to give more attention, care and encouragement to them. Most of our students, despite their poor basic English skills, still yearn for knowledge and desire to improve themselves. And the rest who show less interest in class study are nevertheless specially gifted in other aspects such as leadership, team working, or even starting their own business. Therefore, different expectations should be placed on different students. During the teaching, I believe I am supposed to manage rather than control the class. It requires cooperation between teachers and students and among students. Different methods should be adopted in terms of the teaching content and the conditions of students. For example, in the group work, an ideal group should be the combination of students with good English and those with poor English. It will give more opportunities to the former to show themselves and therefore cultivate a sense of achievement (which is especially important for our students) while giving the latter the opportunity to listen and learn from the others. Due to our college-running characteristics, listening, speaking, reading and writing, the four parts of English capacity are what we hope our students who usually are weak at them to be skilled at in a relatively short time while with the solid foundation (for full-time students).This urges me to be both creative and critical in class. Communicating and learning frequently from other colleagues can always enlighten me. This is a very good way to improve my teaching creativity. Yet, I still have a long way to go before I achieve that ultimate goal. I will always be a modest learner. Conduct myself in a low-profile but treat every work with earnest.
  执教一年半以来,本人一直致力提高自己的教学水平以及实现教学方法的多样化。由于我们生源的特殊性,教师对学生的课堂管理与管理统招本科生不同,需要倾注更多的关注、关心及鼓励于学生身上。大部分学生虽然英语基础薄弱,但是他们还是同样渴望知识,希望能提高自己。而至于那些对学习不怎么感兴趣的同学,他们往往在别的方面有着天赋如团队合作、领导力、甚至自我创业等。因此,对于不同的学生,还是应该有不同的教学期望的。在教学过程中,我认为教师应该管理而不是控制课堂。这需要教师与学生以及学生之间的相互配合。教学方法因教学内容及学生特点而异。例如在小组合作中,一个理想的小组应该是成绩好的学生与成绩差的学生的组合。这样,前者可以获得更多展示自己的机会,从而培养一种成就感(个人觉得这对我们的学生格外重要),而后者也获得机会去倾听、学习。根据我们学院办学的特点,我们希望能让学生在短时间内掌握英语听、说、读、写,对于全日制学生来说还要打下坚实的基础。我要求自己能够达到教学创新与深度并重。经常与同事交流、旁听同事的课可以时不时激发我的灵感,是提高教学创新很好的方式。不过,在实现自己的终极教学目标之前,还需要很长一段路程。我会时刻作一个谦虚的学习者,低调做人;时刻保持严谨的工作态度,高调做事。
